Celebrate Poem in Your Pocket Day

Honoring the many different voices of Jewish poets.

April 26 is national Poem In Your Pocket Day. We've been discussing and sharing poetry all month here at Jewesses with Attitude, and we encourage you to take that poetry love to the streets! To celebrate Poem In Your Pocket Day, select a poem you love and carry it with you to share with co-workers, family, and friends. You could also tweet your poem using the hashtag #pocketpoem.

In Charlottesville, VA, the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library leads a community-wide celebration by recruiting students, senior citizens, local business owners, neighbors, and friends to distribute poem throughout the town.

Will you celebrate the voices of Jewish women poets with us by carring one your favorite poems in your pocket on tomorrow?

If so, which poem will you carry? Who will you share it with? Might you even follow in the footsteps of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library by handing poetry scrolls to passersby on the street?

Let us know by leaving a comment here, or tweeting us at @jwaonline with the hashtag #pocketpoem.
