Beautiful women, female bosses, and modest dress - Link Roundup Aug 4, 2009

Everyday I encounter a number of interesting websites, articles, and blog posts that are definitely worth mentioning. I hope you find these as interesting as I do!

  • Are women getting more beautiful?  Rebecca Honig Friedman has some reservations about this particular trend. [The Sisterhood]
  • 'The Difference between Jewish men and women.' Does anyone really find these jokes funny?  Yuck.
  • Former 'Blossom' star discusses her religious choice to wear modest clothes, and how that went over on TLC's 'What Not To Wear.' [Tablet]
  • "Do women make better bosses?"  This is a very interesting feature with many points of view about women in the workplace.  I think it is great to call attention to the pay gap, the glass ceiling, and gendered double-standards in the workplace, etc.  But all this talk about the "natural" or "innate" differences between men and women make me nervous.  Research done on this topic usually supports traditional assumptions about gender, ie 'women are more emotional than men.' Is there really any truth to those assumptions? Must they always be true?  And either way, what is the point of reinforcing them? [New York Times]
