Alan D. Crown

Alan D. Crown was Emeritus Professor (personal Chair) in Hebrew, Bible and Jewish Studies at the University of Sydney. The author of many papers and books with a special focus on the Samaritans, he was awarded the Order of Australia (AM) for services to education. He was the Joint Master and Chairman of the Jewish residential college, Mandelbaum House, at the University of Sydney. Prof. Crown died on November 2, 2010.

Samaritan liturgy featured women prominently and showed them in positions of power. However, there is a lack of women in the current Samaritan community, and any Samaritan women are subject to strict laws.
