J.Michele Edwards

J. Michele Edwards, professor emerita of music at Macalester College, specializes in twentieth- and twenty-first-century women musicians and composers. She has contributed numerous articles to journals and books such as Women and Music: A History, Musicology and Globalization, and The Cambridge Companion to Conducting, as well as to reference works such as The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, International Dictionary of Black Composers, and Women in the Middle Ages: An Encyclopedia. In addition to being a musicologist, Edwards is conductor for the eighty-voice Minnesota Center Chorale and Calliope Women’s Chorus.

Marion Eugénie Bauer

Marion Eugenie Bauer was a modernist and experimental composer whose musical scholarship advocated for women’s voices to be heard and revived interest in female composers. As a teacher, writer, and composer, she was actively involved in many music and composition organizations, frequently as the only woman in a leadership position.
