Jael Geis

Jael Geis is a registered nurse and a freelance historian. She received her Ph.D. in contemporary history from the Technische Universität Berlin. She has published a book and several articles on Jews of German descent in the British and American zones of Germany 1945–1949. She is currently working on Jews in Germany in the 1950s. Her academic interests include the social-psychological aspects of immediate post-war European Jewish history and the history of medicine.

A well-known Social Democrat and Holocaust survivor committed to equal rights for women and sustained Jewish existence in Germany, Jeanette Wolff refused to compromise her socio-political beliefs. She was active in the SPD both before and after the war and served on the denazification committee in post-war Berlin .
