Gabor Gyukics

Gabor G Gyukics is a Budapest-born poet, translator, and Hungarian Beat Poet Laureate. He is the author of elevent books of poetry in five languages, one book of prose, and sixteen books of translations, including A Transparent Lion, selected poetry of Attila József, and Swimming in the Ground: Contemporary Hungarian Poetry in English and an anthology of North American Indigenous poets in Hungarian.

In Hungary, Zsófia Balla is considered one of the greatest women poets. Her lyricism is mixed with grotesque playfulness along with fragmented, ironic, prose-like sequences. Due to her outspoken and down-to-earth character, she plays a large role in shaping contemporary Hungarian literature.
