Marty Kelso

Marty Kelso has diverse experience as a writer. Upon graduation from the College of William & Mary, he worked in script development, including collaborations with Jane Fonda and Pierce Brosnan for Turner Network Television. As an advertising copywriter, he has partnered with such brands as Baskin-Robbins, Irwin Tools, and MetLife, and was nominated for an Emmy Award for short form writing. Marty is partner and creative director of Kelso Communications, a full-service advertising agency in Charlotte, NC.

Meyera Oberndorf blazed trails in Virginia politics as the first woman and first Jewish mayor of Virginia Beach, the largest city in the Commonwealth. From 1988 to 2008, she stood up to a long-ingrained good old boy network and led the city through difficult issues including racial unrest, all while staying closely connected to her citizens as “the people’s mayor.”
