Julia Wolf Mazow

Julia Wolf Mazow is a writer, editor and lecturer in Houston, Texas. Her work has appeared in Bridges, Lilith and Midstream. She compiled and edited The Woman Who Lost Her Names: Selected Writings of American Jewish Women. Mazow has taught women’s literature, including a course called “From Lilith to Laura Z,” inside and outside the university. An account of her 1985 meeting with Laura Z. Hobson appeared in Lilith, where was Mazow was fiction editor for more than ten years.

Laura Z. Hobson

Writer Laura Z. Hobson is best known for her book Gentleman’s Agreement (1947), about anti-Semitism in America, which was turned into the Oscar winning film starring Gregory Peck. Her unconventional life as a single mother of two in the 1930s was reflected in her writing, as well as in Consenting Adult (1975), about a mother’s growing understanding of her son’s homosexuality.
