Jean Ulitz Mensch

Jean Ulitz Mensch, an independent historian, was born to an immigrant Jewish family. She received her Ph.D. in history from Columbia University, writing her dissertation on crime and vice in the Eastern European Jewish community in New York from 1882 to 1914. Mensch also contributed several articles to The Encyclopedia of New York City.
