Harriet L. Parmet is professor emerita in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literature at Lehigh University, where she has taught Hebrew since 1976. She was elected to the Board of Critics of the Jewish Spectator Review of Books. She specializes in modern Israeli literature, particularly the work of women writers. Parmet coauthored a study of feminist religious reviews on reproductive technologies and an article on Haviva Reik, a heroine of the Holocaust. Cofounder of Lehigh University’s Jewish Studies Program and founder of the Jewish Colloquia series, Parmet’s work has appeared in journals such as Midstream and Journal for Feminist Studies in Religion. Her most recent book is The Terror of Our Days: The Response of Four American Poets to the Holocaust.
