Emily Meyer Pomper received her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College, her M.A. from Columbia University, and her Ph.D. from Boston College. She taught at the University of Chicago High School, Laney College, Merritt College, and the University of Massachusetts at Boston, where she directed the Writing Proficiency Program and was an adjunct associate professor of English until her retirement in 1994. She then taught at the Graduate Liberal Studies Program at Wesleyan University. She is coauthor of The Practical Tutor with Louise Z. Smith. Emily Pomper passed away on July 28, 2003.
