Robert A. Rothstein

Robert A. Rothstein is professor of Slavic and Judaic studies and of comparative literature, and adjunct professor of linguistics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He studied mathematics and linguistics as an undergraduate at M.I.T. and earned a Ph.D. in Slavic languages and literatures from Harvard University. He is the author of studies in Slavic and Yiddish linguistics, folklore and popular culture.

Martha Schlamme

Martha Schlamme was an internationally known singer who rose to prominence after the Second World War due to her phenomenally large repertoire and ability to sing in multiple languages. Schlamme studied piano in Austria before the war and had a successful post-war career in England, singing on BBC radio, before immigrating to the United States and singing in nightclubs and concert halls across the country.
