Renowned Australian Jewish historian Suzanne Rutland has published widely on Australia, the Holocaust, Jewish education, and antisemitism. She is past president of the Australian Association for Jewish Studies and the Australian Jewish Historical Society. Her book The Jews in Australia was published by Cambridge University Press in 2005; her latest book, co-written with Australian Jewish journalist Sam Lipski, Let My People Go: The Untold Story of Australia and Soviet Jews, 1959-1989 (Melbourne: Hybrid Publishers), was the joint winner of the 2016 Prime Minister’s Literary Award, Australian History Section. In 2008, she received the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to Higher Jewish Education and interfaith dialogue. As a member of the Australian Delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, she serves on the Education Working Group and the Committee on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial. Rutland is Professor Emerita in the Department of Hebrew, Biblical & Jewish Studies at the University of Sydney.
