Joachim Wieler

Joachim Wieler (born 1938 in Malbork, Poland) holds a Diplom-Sozialarbeiter (FH) and a Master of Social Work (MSW). He is a supervisor in the German social services and a professor emeritus in the Department of Social Work of the Fachhochschule, University of Applied Sciences, Erfurt, Germany. His areas of teaching and research are the history of social work, institutions and methods, and the internationalization of social work.

Alice Salomon

Alice Salomon was an educator, feminist, economist, and international activist who was one of the pioneers of the emerging field of professional social work in Germany in the early 20th century. In 1925 she was among the founders of the German Academy for Women’s Social and Educational Work, and she later served as the first president of the International Committee of Schools of Social Work.

Sidonie Wronsky

Sidonie Wronsky was among the pioneers of professional social work and one of the early social work educators. She was a member of social work organizations, taught at German schools, and wrote prolifically on issues pertaining to social work, Judaism, and women. She continued her career in social work and education after her emigration to Palestine in 1933.
