National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) members rejected the following resolution supporting suffrage in 1917:

    Whereas, The question of Equal Suffrage is now one of the great moment; and

     Whereas, Every body of women organized for progressive work along lines of special and civic betterment is forced to recognize the imperative need for woman's enfranchisement; and

     Whereas, This organization is co-operating with all groups organized for bettering conditions for women and children; be it

     Resolved, That the National Council of Jewish Women, in Convention assembled, endorse the bill now pending in Congress providing an Amendment to our Federal Constitution granting to all the women of the United States the same political rights now enjoyed by the men, and that a telegram to this effect be sent to our President at Washington, D.C.
