I Don't Belong

When Janna Kaplan was finally allowed to leave the Soviet Union, she traveled alone. On the surface, her adjustment to life in the United States should have been relatively easy. She was bright, well-educated, and had skills that were much in demand and yet her adjustment was rocky. In this clip, Janna explains how she struggled to “switch gears” after leaving the Soviet Union.
