Anna Sokolow's Official Broadway Debut at Guild Theatre, 1937
Program from Anna Sokolow's official debut on November 14, 1937. She chose a number of compositions with social and political commentary, such as Strange American Funeral, based on a poem about an immigrant steelworker killed by falling into a vat of boiling metal. Excerpts from a War Poem was also based on a poem, "War is Beautiful," but this time Sokolow treated the poem with acerbic satire.
