Willie Linsk

In memoriam

From Dana Sheanin

Remembering Willie, who was always my champion

She inspired me because

Willie was my touchstone. Today she is the model for how I parent my children, in the hope that they will always feel my love and steadfastness, as I always felt hers.

Something I learned from her is

How to embrace my choices, while also acknowledging the reality of the things I cannot change. Willie taught me that timing is everything, that compassion for yourself and for others is essential, and that her love for me was unconditional.

I am grateful to her for

Her steady presence in my life for more than forty years, for always showing up for me and for the many moments she simply stood next to me and gave me strength.

My favorite memory of her is

The afternoon tea she hosted for my closest friends and grandmothers the week before my wedding. The event was quintessentially Willie - elegant, delicious, and a chance to celebrate and be nurtured by the women who loved me most in the world, as I entered a new phase of my life.

Additional Thoughts

I still hear her voice in my head during difficult times, and miss her presence. I am glad to be able to honor her and hope that she felt how much I loved her.
